SunSystems 5

SunSystems is a powerful suite of integrated financial management and business intelligence applications, which provide the tools to allow users to analyze their business at a financial and operational level.

Superior Design

At the heart of the SunSystems solution is a single, integrated ledger that combines the functionality of general ledger, receivables and payables. This provides a powerful, real-time financial transaction-processing engine that lets you see the immediate impact of any financial postings, giving you greater visibility into your business. Reports are up-to-date as soon as transactions are posted, with no batch process unlike other systems.

Powerful Analytical Capabilities

The SunSystems solution provides tremendous flexibility in the ways you can analyze financial and business information. Analysis dimensions are set up to reflect your organization's activities such as:
  • departments
  • cost centres
  • products
  • markets
  • regions or geographic areas
  • lines of business
  • projects
  • employees

There is no need to define a data relationship in advance, as the analysis dimensions are created and maintained independently of each other and are linked through transaction processing and validation rules. This means you can add new analysis dimensions or change existing ones as your business changes, providing unrivalled flexibility without adding implementation complexity. The analysis dimensions provide SunSystems with a database structure that can be used to "slice and dice" the data in multiple dimensions in a way that is unrivalled in comparable systems.

Scalable

SunSystems is a flexible financial and business management software solution used by small, mid-sized and large companies. The software is scalable, allowing companies to start small and grow with the product, and is used by a quarter of the Fortune 500 companies.

Global Reach

During the past 20 years, the SunSystems solution has been implemented globally:
  • at 50,000 customer sites
  • customers in 194 countries
  • solutions in 30 languages, including French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Chinese and Japanese

Managing Business Performance

Using SunSystems, you can quickly highlight problems within your operation or low-performing areas of the business and take positive action to turn things around. The unique combination of flexible analysis capabilities and integrated business analytics means that SunSystems delivers powerful reporting coupled with real-time alerts in order to highlight areas that need immediate action, anywhere within the business.

Multi-Currency

SunSystems is a true multi-currency system providing the ability to record transactions in up to 5 different currency fields simultaneously. This allows organizations to record transactions in their base currency, transaction currency and other reporting currencies. Meeting GAAP currency requirements, the following are examples of currency models:

Domestic subsidiary of a foreign parent company

Example: a Canadian subsidiary of a U.S. parent. Financial statements can be produced in Canadian dollars (the base currency) to meet the reporting requirements in Canada, as well as in U.S. dollars (the reporting currency) for parent-company reporting.

    Foreign subsidiary

Example: an Australian subsidiary of a Canadian company. The base currency is Australian dollars in the subsidiary. The Australian company can produce financial statements in Australian dollars, and provide reports to the Canadian parent in Canadian dollars. The transaction currency may be Mongolian Tugriks, for example.

    Specialized foreign currency requirements

Example: a Canadian company transfers U.S. dollars to a Brazilian joint venture company. The local regulations in Brazil require the transaction to be recorded in Brazilian currency. Accordingly, three currencies are required for a single transaction. SunSystems can handle this transaction easily with base, transaction and reporting currencies.

The powerful currency revaluation function allows accounting staff to revalue balance sheets at reporting dates and also allows users to assess the impact of movements in currency exchange rates on their bottom line profitability. This is important for many Canadian companies that are exporters or importers.
